A little about our history…owner Michael Beneduce is a third generation grower who learned the business at his grandfather's farm stand, "Amato's", on Shunpike Road in Madison. Barely twenty years old, Michael purchased the property here in Meyersville in 1978 and began to build the first quarter of the existing greenhouse, selling both wholesale and retail to customers who followed from Amato's. Today, our operation is 100% retail and we service customers from Staten Island, Connecticut and New York in addition to our locals. We have two employees who have been with us since 1980—Julie and Roseanne, and others who have been here for more than ten years—Jay and Shawn. Don't see Shawn around any more? He runs our Pittstown location, growing annuals and perennials in our 10 greenhouses there, five of which we just added in 2006.
Our daughter, Justen, graduated from Rutgers/Cook College with a BS in Agricultural Science, and our son, Michael, graduated from Cornell University with two BS degrees: one in Plant Science and one in Viticulture and Enology. Why Viticulture? Because we are starting a Winery/Wine School! We hope to open Beneduce Vineyards, located in Pittstown, NJ around 2012! Check back with us soon! Our youngest son, Kevin, also recently started his studies in Horticulture and Landscape Design at Penn State, so we plan to be here for quite a while!
